Roger (Uncle Moose) Flocke

April 28, 1944 - September 18, 2023

 

Roger W. Flocke, 79 of New Fairfield, died unexpectedly on Monday, September 18, 2023 while visiting family in Florida. He was born on April 28, 1944 in Mount Vernon, NY to Mildred and Henry Flocke.

Roger was predeceased by his wife Margret to whom he was married for 40 years and his brother Paul. He served in Vietnam as a Specialist Five and received a Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service while serving with the 611th Ordnance Company, 1st Logistical Command in 1969.

Roger enjoyed traveling, especially when he went boating and fishing for Northern Pike in Canada; something he did annually most of his adult life.

An accountant by trade, Roger had worked for many companies: Rapid Power Technologies Inc., Quality Kitchens Inc., High Performance Appliances Inc., Druck Inc., Production Management Group LLC., and Kimchuk Inc. in positions ranging from accountant, chief accountant, accounting manager, and assistant controller. Roger was the former chapter president of the IMA Danbury Area Chapter.

He was a member of the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department Company A for over 45 years. His membership as a firefighter was something he was very proud of.

Roger is survived by his significant other, Gertrude “Trudi” Dainiak and her daughters Kristin (Kevin), Stephanie, and Samantha, his sister Marilyn (Tom) Kelly, nephews Timothy (Kristin), Aaron (Kristen), grandnephews and grandnieces Cian, Samson, Phineas, Shea, Quinn, Dove, and granddaughters Noelle, Robyn, and Rosemary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 29, 2023 at St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield at ­­11:00am. A burial will follow at Beechwood Cemetery located at 179 Beechwood Ave, New Rochelle, NY, 10801.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home located at 247 White Street, Danbury, CT on Thursday, September 28, 2023 between the hours of 4:00pm and 7:00pm.
