Obituary of Kevin Paul McKinley

Kevin Paul McKinley, 62, of Redding, cherished partner of Suzanne England, died at Norwalk Hospital on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.  He was born on June 10, 1961, beloved son of Ellen (Stein) McKinley and the late Stephen McKinley.  He was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1979, and UConn at Storrs in 1983.

Kevin worked as ASML in Norwalk for more than 25 years.  Prior to that he had been with Perkin-Elmer and SVG.

He enjoyed carpentry, music, fishing and being with family and friends.  Kevin loved bringing people together, especially cooking for them. He was a master of his backyard grill and smoker.  Some of his happiest memories were spent vacationing with family on Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.  Kevin loved his brothers who were also his best friends.

Kevin’s proudest accomplishment was his daughter, Kate.  He was a devoted father and loved coaching her youth Lacrosse teams, and later traveled to every game she played with Fairfield University.  Her teammates enjoyed his support and the tailgate meals he provided after the games.

Throughout his life, both at home and at work, Kevin built deep friendships, taking a genuine interest in the people he met. He will be remembered as someone who truly cared for others' well-being, gave generously of himself, and fiercely protected those he loved.

In addition to his mother, Ellen, and his partner Suzanne, he will be sadly missed by his daughter, Kate Mitchell and her husband, James; his stepchildren, Madeleine, Andrew and Owen England; his brothers, Keith and his wife, Susan, Kerry and his wife, Brenda, Kristopher and his wife, Marissa, and Kraig and his wife, Michele as well as his many nieces and nephews, his extended family and his many dear friends and colleagues.

Funeral Service and Celebration of Kevin’s life will be held on Monday, September 18th at 2:00pm at First Church of Christ Congregational in Redding.  The family will gather in Fellowship Hall following the service to greet guests.

Memorial Contributions in his memory may be made to the Dorothy  Day Hospitality House, PO Box 922, Danbury CT 06813 or at www.DorothyDayDanbury.org
