Obituary of Cody James Rugar

Cody James Rugar, 31, of New Fairfield, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023.  He was born in Long Island, NY on January 15, 1992, beloved son of John and Audrey (Reich) Rugar.  He attended Henry Abbott Technical School and graduated from New Fairfield High School.

Cody was a Farrier/Blacksmith who worked with show horses, race horses, and horse farms.  He was exceptionally creative and enjoyed using his blacksmithing talents to forge works of art from steel.

In his younger years, Cody enjoyed boxing, mountain biking, dirt biking, hiking, and many other activities.

Cody enjoyed being physically active, working out, and practicing yoga.  His friends knew that if they ever wanted someone to accompany them on any activity, no matter how strange or demanding, Cody would always say yes before they could even finish their sentence.  He lived each day to the max, had an incredible sense of humor, a contagious laugh, and saw beauty in places where others found blemishes. He marched to his own beat and put on a show any time he walked into a room.

In addition to his parents, John and Audrey, he will be missed by his brother, Lucas; his sister, Kiana; and maternal grandmother, Irma Jacinto.  He is also survived by his step-grandmother, Deborah Reich; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends and extended family.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Idalina Rugar, Carl Reich, and Arnold Jacinto.

Funeral services will be held privately.

The family invites your happy memories of Cody in the guestbook.
