Obituary of Armand Thomas Flynn

Armand Thomas Flynn, 76, of Brookfield, passed away unexpectedly at the VA Hospital in West Haven on July 18, 2021 with his loving family by his side.  Armand was born February 13, 1945 in Greenwich, CT to the late Thomas and Catherine Flynn.  He was the beloved husband of Jaqueline Flynn and a devoted father and grandfather.

Armand was a proud Airforce Veteran. The first in his family to attend college, he put himself through and graduated from SCSU with a Master’s in Psychology and CCSU with a Bachelor’sdegree in Education. He began his career as a teacher and dean at Ludlowe High School in Fairfield. He then moved into the corporate world working as a Human Resources Manager. His ability to listen and connect with people was a perfect fit for his work in HR. Everyone who worked with him knew he was there to help in any way he could. Upon retirement, he found pleasure in restoring old cars. Armand was a true animal person at heart, he rescued several dogs over the years which he loved dearly.  He always looked forward to his daily walks on the Greenway with his wife Jackie and Copper, their hound dog, which were a special daily ritual for them.

He was a dedicated father and grandfather, attending/cheering on at sports, drama and musical events for everyone in the family. Armand was always smiling, and he taught his kids and grandkids that smiling is contagious. He showed them that if you smile at someone, they can’t help but smile back. He was a heartfelt listener to everyone he encountered. He cared so deeply about everyone that when you spoke with him, he made you feel like the most important part of his day. He also loved to brag about his family, to his friends or extended family members. He was quick to share what accomplishments his kids and grandkids were up to with anyone he ran into.

In addition to his wife of 50 wonderful years Jacqueline, Armand will be sadly missed by his loving daughters: Carey Padros and her husband Xavier of New Milford, Betsy Masi of Southbury, and Courtney Browning and her husband Matthew of Virginia; eight grandchildren: Jackson, Emma, Tessa, Jordi, Caroline, Aiden, Nina, and Bonnie; brothers: Larry Flynn and his wife Joann, and David Flynn and his wife Pat; and sisters: Betty Shopovick and Diane Justice, his beloved dog Copper and close-knit extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00am July 28, 2021 at St. Joseph Church, 163 Whisconier Rd., Brookfield. Visitation will be July 27, 2021 from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield. All are asked to please wear a mask while attending the visitation.
