My family is heartbroken to recently learn of Dee’s passing. Dee and my mom, Theresa Morrissette, had a very special friendship while they were both living in Newtown. Dee was so kind to my mom, and warmly welcomed her to the Health Care Center with her beautiful smile. Her friendship with my mother was not only a blessing to my mom, but also to my father, my brother and sister, my aunt and all the kids in our family. Dee comforted my mom when she was scared and was always her biggest cheerleader. Her ever encouraging words and her wonderful jokes brought smiles and real belly laughs to all of us every time we visited. She was so upbeat and her “glass” was ALWAYS half FULL! She truly was a beautiful soul. We are all so comforted to know that Dee is now in paradise with my mom, and they are picking up right where they left off. Dee will be forever missed and loved.

So sad to have lost my dearest friend. We had a friendship I will always cherish for over 5 decades. We grew up together with our kids. We took 4 kids to Mystic Village, 2 of them still in diapers and strollers, and stayed in a motel. What fun that was. Even when I moved to Florida we always met at least once a year. She was my role model for child raising. She was so supportive and positive, even when I might be down, she picked me up. I will cherish the times we had and the love we shared.

Such a sad day. Dee was the most positive person I ever knew. I will miss her vibrant personality and zest for life. She was the rare person who could make the most ordinary day special. We were childhood friends growing up in Brooklyn and often reminisced about our Sunday afternoons spent listening to Sky King and The
Shadow while sharing our stash of pickles, potato chips and pepsis from the corner Deli. She was the best joke teller and I know she brightened many a day at Masonicare with them. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. My heartfelt sympathy to Rob, Mike and your families. Heaven will welcome her and be glad for her presence. Goodbye dear friend.

Rob and Michael,
I was saddened to learn today of your Mom’s passing. Just thinking about her bringings me a smile. Under her own smile there was a strength and generosity that belied her size
I think fondly of those years on Juniper Lane, especially the dual celebrations of Kim and Gary’s Dec 26 birthday. I still use her meatloaf recipe and your Grandma Parris’ stuffed grape leave recipe.
I know the last years were hard on your Mom and on you too, She was a wonderful person who love you both. She gave willingly to all those around her.
Bill, Kim and Scott, join Don and I in sending our prayers and warms thoughts of you Mom. God Bless. Adi Westenhofer

So sad to learn of Dee's passing. We were lifelong friends. So many memories. She would laughingly blame me for telling her there was no Santa Clause. I will miss her cheery smiles and amazing spirit. Rest in peace Dee. I know you are telling your jokes and making the Angels laugh.
Sincere sympathy to Robbie and Michael and the family. Dee always loved to tell me what the grandchildren were doing. She was very proud of all of you.

I was very sad to learn that Dee passed away recently!! She was loved by all in Brookfield and I especially remember her cheery face at the Craft Center and at some Garden Club events!! We reconnected in later years at Summit Rehab and Newtown Rehabilitation & Health Care Center (Masonicare) as my Mom was recovering from a stroke too. Her vibrant personality and wonderful zest for life was contagious and made everyone laugh!! She will be deeply missed!

I was so saddened to hear of Dee's passing. I taught at BCC for over 25 years and Dee was the anchor at the Craft Center for faculty, staff and students. She always made sure everyone had what they needed with total dedication and passion. Her beautiful smile and positive attitude were the first things all would encounter as they walked in the door. No one could have been a better ambassador for the importance of crafts education. Her memory and effervescent spirit will live on through all the teachers, administrators and students lives that she touched.
Sincerely,
Barbara Allen

I am so very sorry for your loss. Dee was for me a fixture at the Brookfield Craft
Center. She was a lovely and welcoming face for the facility as well as a wonderful person. I volunteered for many years for the Christmas inventory, sale and ex-inventory. She was a super person to deal with in every respect. I have missed her sorely the last years after she had her stroke. I am missing her again to know of her loss.
With deepest sympathy,
Lynn Harrison

I was acquainted with Dee through the Craft Center and always enjoyed our "chats" with her. She was a loving force for the center and a loyal employee. On
one occasion, Dee mentioned needing a "mother of the bride" dress and I recommended a shop in Hamden. She found the "right" dress there and thanked me each time we met! A tribute to her kindness and thoughtfulness.
I am now a craft center volunteer and wifi remember Dee each time I go there.

My sincere condolences to the family of Dee. My mom was also at masonicare and we spent many happy afternoons with Dee. I will remember her many jokes and how she would begin laughing as she told them. She would giggle and laugh so much before the punch line, she had everyone laughing along with her. She was a lovely lady. I’m sure she will brighten up heaven with her jokes. We’ll miss her. Valorie Correa

Dear Dee's Family ,
Your Mom will be sorely missed by so many who knew her and loved her.
I meet Dee back in 2005 when see first admitted to "Masonicare at Newtown" and then later on when she became a permanent resident . I took care of her many times on my 2nd shift as a CNA. Your Mom was one of my favorites she was the funniest, kindest, selfless souls I ever meet .
We hit it off so well, She would tell me jokes and I would tell her jokes. I loved coming to work knowing that she was on my schedule . I often looked up jokes so I could tell her a new one.
Dee was always looking on the bright side of things. She had the amazing gift of telling stories (like the time when she was young and her father walked a lobster on a leash to the front door , and how she went to school with Barbara Streisand !) and great jokes too !
She would tell me about her boys and their Family and how much she loved all of them .
I never saw her angry or be miserable to anyone . She loved to hear about my children and when I left in 2014 to work for a different department I would sometime run into Dee outside sunning herself . I would always stop and say hello to her and she would grab my hand and ask about my children by name; and then tell me she had a joke to tell me .
When I read her obituary today in the paper It hit me hard ! I had a tear in my eye: Because I truly lost a good friend . In honor of Dee I have one last joke to tell her :
In surgery for a heart attack, a middle-aged woman has a vision of God by her bedside. “Will I die?” she asks. God says, “No. You have 30 more years to live.” With 30 years to look forward to, she decides to make the best of it. So since she’s in the hospital, she gets breast implants, liposuction, a tummy tuck, hair transplants, and collagen injections in her lips. She looks great! The day she’s discharged, she exits the hospital with a swagger, crosses the street, and is immediately hit by an ambulance and killed. Up in heaven, she sees God. “You said I had 30 more years to live,” she complains. “That’s true,” says God. “So what happened?” she asks. God shrugs, “I didn’t recognize you.”
RIP Dee , I love you and will miss you :
your friend

To the Family of Dee Wagner,
Dee will surely be missed by all who knew her at Newtown. Dee loved to socialize and share her jokes, as she roamed the hall. My mother is Margaret Jones in Rm 338. Mom has been confined to her room for several months. Dee would be out in the hall or outside enjoying the fresh air when I arrived. And she always asked about Mom, and was happy to wheel down the end of the hall to share her jokes and help mom smile. Last Sunday I popped into Dee's room and thanked her for all the jokes and told her we love her and wish her the best. I think she heard me because I thought I saw her facial muscles twitch. Told her the Yankees won the night before for her and that Didi was coming back. And isn' it just like her to not want any services. I was so happy to see her back from her last hospital trip, and told her so. She just grabbed hold of my hand, and said she was glad to be back too. Dee was a rare person who could breathe some life into an otherwise sad day. May she rest in peace. Andrea Jones
