Obituary of Anna Catherine Lownds
Danbury - Mrs. Anna Catherine "Kate" (Peeler) Lownds, age 100, of Danbury, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 15, 2018 at the Glen Hill Nursing Home in Danbury. She was the widow of John Lownds.
Mrs. Lownds was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on June 27, 1917 daughter of the late Stephen and Ella (Cramer) Peeler. She was a lifelong resident of Danbury and was retired after working for many years as a waitress at King Neptune Restaurant in Ridgefield and Toby Jug Restaurant. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Danbury, was active in the St. Peter's Guild for many years, a former member of the Sokol Gymnastics Club during her younger years and enjoyed gardening, cooking for family and travelling.
Kate's family would like to thank the staff of the Glen Hill Nursing Home for their kindness and the compassionate care that they provided.
Mrs. Lownds is survived by her son: Jeffrey Lownds of Waterbury, step sons: John R. Lownds and his wife Patricia of Garnet Valley, PA, and David Lownds of Bethel , five grandchildren: Beverly Heinlein, and Gary, Brian, Gregory and Kevin Lownds, 5 great grandchildren: Timothy J. and Christopher Heinlein, and Nicholas, Julia and Sarah Lownds and several nieces.
She was predeceased by her grandson: Kenneth Lownds, her daughter in law: Ida Lownds, her brother: John Peeler and her three sisters: Margaret Januski, Ella Mae Wirag and Donna Rose Peeler.
Funeral services will be held on Monday March 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Danbury. Kate's family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Monday March 19, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
