Obituary of Charles Harvey Harrison

Charles Harvey Harrison December 24, 1934 - October 20, 2007 Charles Harrison, age 72, of Cedar Point Drive Sherman died on October 20, 2007 due to complications of Lewy Body Dementia. He was home surrounded by his loved ones at the time of his death. He was born in Sikeston, Missouri December 24, 1934, son of Charles H. Harrison Jr. and Naomi June Marshall. He attended Beloit College (Class of 1956), Beloit Wisconsin and was a graduate of the United States Naval Officer Training School at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola Florida. Mr. Harrison became a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy serving as Commander of Attack Squadrons VA125 and VA831. He was a naval aviator flying A4 Skyhawks for three tours of duty from the USS Midway in the Pacific. He began a commercial aviation career with American Airlines in 1963 but was recalled to active duty in 1968 when North Korea captured the USS Pueblo. He retired as a senior captain with American Airlines in 1994 having accumulated over 30,000 hours of flight time. Charlie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed reading, sailing, boating, tennis, skiing, and woodworking. He was a true animal lover enjoying pets all his life. Charlie took great pleasure in the company of his friends and family at his home on Lake Candlewood. In addition to his wife of 31 years, Lili, he will be sadly missed by his son Charles H. Harrison IV and his wife Kathleen and their son Bret Rondeau of Sherman CT; his son Michael R. Harrison and his wife Debra Despues and their son Jackson of Tiburon CA; and his daughter Lisa Harrison and her husband Chris Kirkness and their two daughters Lindsay and Zoe of Danbury CT. Charlie will also be missed by his devoted friend Christine Anderson who helped cared for him during his illness. Funeral Information There will be a Celebration of Charlie's Life for family and friends on Thursday October 25, 2007 4-7 PM in the family's home at 10 Cedar Point Drive Sherman CT.
