Obituary of Terence Joseph Gallagher

Terence Joseph Gallagher January 22, 1935 - September 04, 2009 Terence Joseph Gallagher Terence Joseph Gallagher, age 74, of Bokeelia, Florida, died September 4, 2009 at home after a battle with prostate cancer. A longtime resident of Brookfield, Terry was born January 22, 1935 in Leigh, Lancashire, England, son of the late George and Alice Gallagher. He was educated in England as a mechanical engineer and started work with DeHaviland Aircraft Company. It was during these early adult years that he met Marie Farrington, an American. They married in England, set sail to live in the United States settling in Mount Prospect, Illinois. His professional journey took him from aerial reconnaissance at Chicago Aerial Industries in Illinois to Perkin-Elmer in Danbury to being the president of American Bank Note Holographics in New York. He settled in Connecticut, where he started Total Register, a family-owned company which manufactures holographic related equipment. He was an accomplished inventor and holder of numerous patents especially in the field of holography and related machinery. After the death of Marie, he met and married Susan Patrick. Although he never retired, he and Susan chose to slow down some and find a bit of heaven in Bokeelia, Florida, where he enjoyed the good life of boating and sunshine. In addition to his parents, Terry was predeceased by his first wife of 35 years. He is survived by his second wife Susan, his sister Aileen and her family, his four children and their spouses: Daniel and Cheryl Gallagher, John and Sue Gallagher, Bridget and Patrick Quaid, and Kate Gallagher and Carl Giuseppone; and Susan's children Chris and Iris Patrick, and Ryan and Alexandra Patrick. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren who loved him and were loved by him. Funeral Information A Funeral Mass for family and friends will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 163 Whisconier Road, Brookfield, on Saturday, September 26th at 10:00am. A private interment ceremony will be held at Central Cemetery in Brookfield. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, contributions in Terry's memory may be made to the Hope Hospice of Southwest Florida, 9470 Health Park Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908.
