Obituary of Daniel J. Duda

Daniel J. Duda September 15, 1955 - July 17, 2009 Daniel Jerald Duda, of New Fairfield, husband of Mary Valentina (Herbst) Duda, died at his home on Friday, July 17th. He was born in Seattle, Washington on September 15, 1955, son of P. Daniel Duda of Brookfield, and the late Jean (Bernie) Duda. He was a graduate of Danbury High School and was a member of the wrestling team. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts and attained the level of Eagle Scout. Dan worked as an accountant for Equilease Financial Service. In his younger years, he learned to fly small planes and had his first solo flight at the age of 16 on a Cessna 150. He also studied Kung Fu and Judo under Master St. Charles. He loved to water ski on Candlewood Lake and his talents included barefoot and trick skiing. Dan enjoyed tennis, and was an avid runner, running seven NYC Marathons and countless 5 and 10K's throughout the years. Dan's quick wit and humorous nature will be missed by his family and many friends. In addition to father and his wife of 30 years, Mary, he is survived by his two sons, Steven E. Duda and Michael D. Duda, both of New Fairfield; and his brother, Steven Duda of Brookfield. He is also survived by two stepbrothers and a stepsister; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 24th at 11:00am at the Brookfield Congregational Church in Brookfield. Interment in the Memorial Garden to follow. Following the service, the family invites friends to join them for further fellowship and refreshments in the church hall.
