Obituary of Jacqueline Ann Archiere

Jacqueline Ann Archiere February 08, 1952 - April 04, 2006 Jacqueline Ann Archiere, of Danbury, died at Pope John Paul Center for Healthcare on Tuesday, April 4th after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was 54 years old. Jackie was born at Danbury Hospital on February 8, 1952, daughter of Mary I. (Virtudes) Archiere of Danbury and the late Joseph A. Archiere. She attended Danbury schools and graduated from Immaculate High School, Class of 1969, and Quinnipiac College with an Associate Degree in Business Administration. She worked as a medical secretary in New Britain, Hartford, and Danbury Hospital. She was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church. Jackie will always be remembered for her utter fearlessness and a robins-egg blue MG convertible that she taught herself to drive (although she nearly gave her father a heart attack doing it). Family members will never forget the fireworks as she and her father, Joe, drove it home the first time after a long workday at Dover Drag Strip, which Joe co-owned. They could be heard "discussing" her driving from Locust Avenue to Germantown! Jackie will also be remembered for her generosity of spirit, her sense of humor and fun, and her love of a "spirited debate." You could never get in the last word with her, but it was always an interesting conversation. Her mother fondly remembers the traveling Jackie did, both alone and with friends, at a time when young single girls simply didn't do that. She was a remarkable older sister: she often took her younger sisters and their friends to plays, craft fairs, ballets, or just out for long rides in the car. Given the difference in their ages, this was an incredible kindness. In addition to mother, Mary, she will be sadly missed by her three sisters, Candace Kelii and her husband Alan of Hilo Hawaii, Joann Corso and her husband, Christopher of Danbury, and Eleanor McLean and her husband, Michael of Woodstock. Jackie also leaves four nephews, Christopher Corso, Jr. of Danbury, Michael Kelii of San Diego, CA, Brian Kelii of Hilo, HI, and Michael McLean of Woodstock; along with numerous cousins and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Pope John Paul II: the nursing staff, the aides, and particularly the staff on 2 South for the incredible care they gave Jackie for the past 22 years. Funeral Information Funeral arrangements are being made through the Cornell Memorial Home, Danbury. There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are asked to gather at St. Gregory the Great Church for a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 7th at 10:00am. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Donations Information In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Pope John Paul II Center or to the charity of your choice.
