Robert J. Carr December 09, 1931 - January 20, 2010 Robert J. (Bob) Carr, 78, of Brookfield, cherished husband of Catherine (Flynn) Carr, died at Danbury Hospital on Wednesday, January 20th. He was born in Scranton, PA on December 9, 1931, son of the late Francis and Marie (Roche) Carr. He graduated from St. Paul's High School and the University of Scranton where he majored in Business/Economics and was very active in basketball, baseball and other sports. Following his graduation from college, Bob married his high school sweetheart, "Katie," and began a wonderful and loving 51-year marriage. Mr. Carr began his business career as a production control manager for Eagle Pencil Company in New York City. He moved to Connecticut with Eagle Pencil (which later became Berol USA) in 1958 and continued with the company, being promoted to Materials Manager, for over 25 years until its relocation to Tennessee. In the later years of his career, he worked for the M. Kamenstein Company in Elmsford, New York. Bob loved living in Brookfield, and especially enjoyed spending time at Candlewood Lake. He served the town as a member, and then as Chairman, of the Zoning Board of Appeals for many years. He was also an active parishioner of St. Joseph Parish in Brookfield. Bob had a deep faith in God and love of family. His times of greatest joy were when all of his children and grandchildren were gathered together to celebrate a holiday, family event, or just spend time with one another. In addition to his beloved wife, Catherine, he will be sadly missed by his son, Robert J. Carr, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Brookfield; his two daughters, Marie Belvin and her husband, Larry of Acworth, GA, and Helen Tallaksen and her husband, Robert of Norwalk; and his six grandchildren, Catherine and Matthew Carr, Nicholas and Julia Belvin, Sarah and Anna Tallaksen. He is also survived by his twin brother, Joseph Carr of Dunmore, PA; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Francis Carr. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Funeral Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Sunday between the hours of 3pm and 7pm.
