Obituary of Edward G. Butterfield

Edward G. Butterfield March 21, 1921 - March 29, 2007 Edward G. Butterfield, formerly of Oak Ridge Gate, Danbury, husband of the late Donata "Nonny" (Ehrbar) Butterfield, joined his beloved wife in Eternal rest on Thursday, March 29th at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania on March 21, 1921, son of the late Michael J. and Ellen (Caulfield) Butterfield. Mr. Butterfield was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army from 1943 until 1946 with the 65th Signal Battalion as a Tech Sergeant and Wire Chief. He worked as an account executive for 3M Company in New York City, retiring after 35 years of employment. In late 1982 he and his wife formed Butterfield Associates, Inc. selling Engineered Specialties for Industry. He was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church. He was active in local politics and was elected Danbury Councilmen in the old 3rd Ward with Roy Swenson, and Paul Werner in Gino Arconti's administration. He was also an active member of the Danbury Lions Club since 1986. He will be sadly missed by his son, Chris M. Butterfield and his wife, Beverly of Bethlehem; his two daughters, Laura S. Butterfield of East Haven, and Kathie C. Penna of Kennebunk, Maine; his granddaughters, Lauren and Carrie Penna of Boston, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son-in-law, Ken Penna; his two brothers, Michael and John; and his sister, Helen Regan. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 10:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Road, Danbury. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery will follow.
