Obituary of Virginia Vichi

Virginia Vichi March 15, 1922 - March 21, 2007 Virginia A. Vichi, formerly of Hawthorne Terrace, Danbury, passed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 21th at the Good Shepherd Hospice House, Auburndale, FL. Virginia was born in Brewster, NY on March 15, 1922, daughter of the late Alfred and Ersilla (Montenaro) Vichi. Jean attended Brewster schools and became a famed personal chef. She had a warm heart with a generous spirit. Jean loved people and was always willing to share her God-given gifts and talents. She had a captivating smile. In the early 50's she became a purchasing agent of fine wines at "The Curb" in New Milford, continuing in Brookfield for thirty-five years at the family operated "Le-Ann's Package Store." Jean created many beautiful seasonal displays and had a natural flair for gift wrapping. Jean volunteered at many Franciscan functions including Forty Hours and anniversary celebrations and spent enjoyable hours at Queen of the Clergy in Stamford. Virginia will be deeply missed by her sister and caregiver, Lena Keane of Davenport, FL with whom she resided for the past two years due to the damage caused by Hurricane Wilma to her Fort Lauderdale home in October, 2005. They enjoyed trips to Beloxi and different parts of Florida. She is also survived by her niece, Vickey Hickey of Danbury, with whom she lived for many years; also three nephews, Edward Hickey of Panama City Beach, FL, Levi and Thomas Newsome of Danbury; and several great nieces and nephews; as well as many dear and caring friends. She was predeceased by her sisters, Emma Hickey, Ermenia Newsome, and Lela Yerks; and her brothers, Frank and Edward Vichi. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 11th at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Danbury. A burial service will follow immediately at St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery in Brewster, NY. Donations Information Memorial Contributions in her memory may be made to Queen of the Clergy Residence for Retired Priests, 274 Strawberry Hill Ave, Stamford, CT. 06902 to the attention of Vickey Hickey and Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 46 Stone Street, Danbury, CT. 06810.
