Obituary of Janet Terrill

Janet (Niland) Terrill April 01, 1931 - October 01, 2006 Janet (Niland) Terrill, of Whisconier Road, Brookfield, devoted wife of Stuart Terrill, died at New Milford Rehabilitation Center, on Sunday, October 1st. She was born in Danbury on April 1, 1931, daughter of the late John J. and Anne V. (McCarthy) Niland. She was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1948, and also graduated from Crandall Secretarial School in Danbury. Mrs. Terrill worked in the Admitting Office at Danbury Hospital for ten years and was head of the Admitting Office for five years. She also worked at Danbury Orthopedic Associates for 14 years as well as several other offices until her retirement. Mrs. Terrill enjoyed being active. She was a member of the Brookfield Volunteer Co Ladies Auxiliary, the Brookfield Museum and Historical Society, and an active member of the Brookfield Republican Women's Club, serving as Membership Chairman for many years. She was also a Justice of the Peace. A parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Brookfield, she served as a member of Hospitality for many years and was an usher at the 11:00am Mass. She enjoyed gardening, wildlife, dancing, and bicycling. In addition to her husband of 43 years, Stuart, she is survived by her brother, John Niland of Woodbury; her sister, Anne Niland of Danbury; her nephew and godchild, David Niland and his wife, MaryAnn of Burlington; her nephew, Paul Nilandand his wife, Debbie of Cheshire; and her three grandnephews, Charlie Niland of Burlington, John and Ryan Niland, both of Cheshire. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 5th, at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield. Burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery will follow. The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Wednesday, October 4th between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00pm.
