Obituary of John J. Scalzo

John J. Scalzo May 01, 1925 - May 03, 2008 John J. Scalzo, 83, of Bates Place, Danbury, devoted husband of Dorothy T. (Zilske) Scalzo, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 3rd. He was born in Catanzaro, Italy on May 1, 1925, son of the late Fernando and Angelina (Lupo) Scalzo. Mr. Scalzo was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy He was a past Commander of the Catholic War Veterans, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was a member of the War Memorial Duck Pin Bowling League. He worked as a television repairman for Sears & Roebuck retiring after 38 years. Mr. Scalzo was an avid golfer who proudly shot "an ace" during his membership with the Richter Park Golf Club. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Church and volunteered as an usher for more than 35 years. In addition to his beloved wife of 58 years, Dorothy, he will be sadly missed by his son, Fred Scalzo and his wife, Debbie of Colorado; his two daughters, Angelina Arconti of Danbury, and Theresa Stenabaugh and her husband, Don of New Milford; his nine grandchildren, Kristine Scalzo McWilliams, Michael Scalzo, Sarah Scalzo Dalley, Matthew and Daniel Arconti, Madison, Nathaniel Aubrey and Owen Stenabaugh; his three great grandchildren, Ian, Finn and Abby. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Fred and Richard Scalzo. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 7th at 9:30am at St. Peter Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Tuesday evening between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00pm.
