Obituary of Arthur J. Bohan

Arthur J. Bohan April 20, 1925 - March 23, 2007 Arthur J. Bohan, 81, a lifelong Danbury resident, died at The Kent on Friday, March 23rd after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was the devoted husband of Marjorie (Quaas) Bohan. He was born in Danbury on April 20, 1925, son of the late Thomas W. and Mary (Collins) Bohan. During WWII, Mr. Bohan left Danbury High School to join the Navy where he served Navy on the USS Monterey in the Pacific Theater. Upon his discharge he returned to high school graduating with the Class of 1948. He worked as the manager of the hardware department at Sears & Roebuck for 14 years. He then he worked for many years with his brother, Tom, in the family business of Bohan Curtains and Linens. He last worked as an Assistant Zoning Enforcement Officer for the City of Danbury retiring in 1992. He was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church and a member of the Holy Name Society. Mr. Bohan loved to work in his yard and maintaining the family home. He most enjoyed talking to people and could strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He was a very loving grandfather who enjoyed keeping track of his grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife of 57 years, Marjorie, he is survived by his son, Roger Bohan and his wife, Lynn of Washington; a brother: Thomas Bohan of Danbury and a sister-in-law Ruth Smigala of Washington; 7 grandchildren: Roger Bohan, II and his wife Christy, Keith Bohan and his wife Ellen, Chad Bohan, Marine Corporal Brandon Bohan and his wife Alecia, Brittany Bohan, Chelsea Bohan, and Hunter-Austin Bohan; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John "Jack" Bohan Funeral Information The funeral service and burial will be private and at the direction of the family. The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
