Obituary of George N. Bloomer

George N. Bloomer February 10, 1925 - January 07, 2009 George N. Bloomer, age 83, of Elizabeth Circle, Sandy Hook, devoted husband of Betty "Sonny" Bloomer, died at Danbury Hospital on Wednesday, January 7th. He was born in Ridgefield on February 10, 1925, son of the late George and Robina (Gair) Bloomer. He graduated from Ithaca with a B.S. in Physical Therapy. He was a member of the Katonah Presbyterian Church in Katonah, NY. Mr. Bloomer was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy. He worked as a physical therapist for the HIP Medical Group of Greater New York and the Hospital for Special Surgery, as well as having his own private practice. George was a saxophonist who enjoyed playing in Jazz bands in his younger years. He was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables. In addition to his beloved wife, Sonny, he will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Linda S. Thunhorst and her husband, Trip of Bethel, and Shari Bloomer of Greenwich; his two grandchildren, Clayton and Katrina Thunhorst. He is also survived by his sister, Jane Gair of Ridgefield; his niece Robin Brown and her husband, Robert; great nephew, Christopher Brown; and his great niece, Katherine Brown. Funeral Information Funeral Services will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Danbury, on Monday, January 12th at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. A Celebration of George's Life will be held on Sunday, January 11th at 1:00pm at the Walnut Tree Condominium Community Center, Elizabeth Circle, Sandyhook, CT. Donations Information Memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to the Bethel Visiting Nurse Association.
