Obituary of Alcena I. Roof

Alcena I. Roof November 30, 1917 - June 26, 2007 Alcena I. (Demme) Roof, formerly of Dover Plains, NY., wife of the late Douglas Roof, died at The Candlewood Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in New Milford on Tuesday, June 26th. She was born in New Canaan on November 30, 1917, daughter of the late Francis and Myrtle (Meyers) Demme. Mrs. Roof worked as an LPN for Castle V.A. Hospital for more than 15 years. She was a member of N.A.R.F, Chapter 1589 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Jean E. Smith of Southbury; her grandson, Howard G. Lewis, III of Danbury; her granddaughter, Jeanellen Copertino of Waltham, NY; two great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and her niece, Dale Glaser of New Milford. She was predeceased by her son, Howard Gordon and her daughter, Alcena Copertino. Funeral Information Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, June 29th at 10:30am. Burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, New York, will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning at 9:30am.
