Obituary of Bernard Re

Bernard Re Sr May 17, 1925 - December 21, 2006 �Absent from the body, present with the Lord.� Bernard Re Sr. of New Milford, beloved husband of 57 years to Rose (Mariano) Re, died suddenly at New Milford Hospital on Thursday, December 21st at the age of 81. He was born in Luzerne, PA on May 17, 1925, son of the late Calogero and Rosa (DiJunio) Re. Mr. Re was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a dispatch manager for Mariano Brothers in New Milford for ten years. He then worked as a bare wire inspector for Viking Wire in Danbury, retiring after 25 years. From 1985 until 1992, he and his wife Rose owned and operated a bed and breakfast, The Rose and the Bear, in New Hampshire. In recent years he was employed at Aspetuck Gardens in New Preston. Mr. Re was a founding member of the First Assembly of God Church in Brookfield. He loved gardening, plastics engraving, and was very artistic in many fields. He enjoyed bowling and bowled with the Viking Wire and Mariano Brother's teams in the commercial league. In addition to his cherished wife, Rose, he will be sadly missed by his four sons, Bernard Jr. of Canaan and Nancy Collins of Colchester, Carlo and his wife, Kathy of Danbury, Timothy and his wife, Nancy of Laurel, Delaware, Joseph and his wife, Kirsten of Stamford; his daughter, Carina Stefanko and her husband Chris of Sandy Hook ; his grandchildren, Sarah and Ken Keating, Jamie Re, Natalie, Robert, Randy, and Ryan Re, Christopher and Renee Stefanko, Emily and Erhan Uskudarli, Elizabeth and Josue Higueros, Katie and Michael Jones, Molly and Justin Tomlinson, Kelly, Peggy, Rosie, Mary, Hannah and Louisa Re; and six great grandchildren, Anthony and Angelina Re, Siera and Timothy Jones, Isabel Higueros, and Sophia Uskudarli. He is also survived by his four brothers, Matthew Re of Stratford, Samuel Re of North Carolina, Gerald Re of Pennsylvania, and David Re of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Re. Funeral Information Funeral Services will be held at the First Assembly of God Church in Brookfield on Wednesday, December 27th at 11:00am. Burial in Wooster Cemetery will follow. The family will receive friends at the First Assembly of God Church on Tuesday, December 26th between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00pm.
