Lubow Popowich, 86, of New Fairfield, formerly of Yonkers NY, wife of the late William Popowich died Sunday, July 10th in West Palm Beach, FL. She was born August 29, 1924 in Olyphant, PA, daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine (Mattichak) Bolinsky.
Lu was a home maker and later became employed by Technicon Corp in Tarrytown, N.Y.
After retirement, she set out to see the places she wanted to visit including Portugal, Finland, Russia and Ukraine.
She treasured her grandchildren and was a frequent park hopper at Disney World. Lu found many new friends at the New Fairfield Senior Center where she sang and danced in plays. She also joined the Red Hat Society and enjoyed activities at Elmwood Hall in Danbury.
Lubow will be missed by her son, Lawrence Popowich of West Palm Beach, FL; her daughter, Patricia Van Metter and Joan Baird of Rochester, NY, her daughter, Susan Lucchese and her husband Roy with whom she made her home in New Fairfield; six grandchildren, James Clarke, Jill Tao, Kris, James and Johann Van Metter and Jason Popowich. Lu will also be missed by her step-grandchildren, Kyle, Corey, Dana and Michael Lucchese and Laura Wollman; one brother, George Bolinksy and his wife Stella of Pocono Lake, PA and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Tuesday, July 19th at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Yonkers, NY.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00pm and again on Tuesday morning between 10:00 and 11:00am. Donations Information
