Obituary of Paul L. Peyton

Paul L. Peyton November 26, 1926 - August 20, 2006 Longtime Brookfield, Connecticut resident Paul Peyton passed away peacefully with his loving wife and eldest son by his side on August 20, 2006. He was 79. Peyton spent many years working alongside his wife, Elizabeth Peyton, at their Brookfield candle, craft, and gift store, Peyton Originals. A loving husband and wonderful father, Peyton was devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved woodworking. An astute observer and lover of nature, he was the best friend to many animals including his dogs, cats, and palomino horse, along with the wild turkeys and deer that turned up in his backyard. A perfect day for him began with coffee and reading the New York Times and included a walk on a beach with his wife. A World War II Army veteran, Peyton was stationed in the Philippines during the war. A graduate of Williams College, he continued his education and studied law and passed the bar in CT. Peyton will be missed and remembered for his lifelong advocacy of human rights and peaceful solutions to political turmoil. He will be remembered, too, as a quiet and gentle man who walked softly on the earth and was loved and cheered by all who came to know him. He encouraged his children and grandchildren to follow their passions in art, music, literature, gourmet cooking, teaching, medicine, and law and they have honored him by doing so. In addition to his wife, Elizabeth Peyton, he is survived by his five children, Sara Peyton, Craig Peyton, Martha Reynolds, James Peyton, and Elizabeth Peyton; his seven grandchildren, Cree Snyder, Jesse Snyder, Sam Snyder, Toby Snyder, Sara Reynolds, Miles Peyton, and Mckenna Peyton; his brother James Warden, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Information A private family memorial is planned. The Brookfield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
