Louis H. Pacific Sr.
August 26, 1931 - August 26, 2005
Louis Henry Pacific, Sr. of Bethel died on his 74th birthday, Friday, August 26, 2005 at Danbury Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Grace (Chiarella) Pacific.
Mr. Pacific was born in Delaware Watergap, PA the youngest of five sons of the late Peter and Eugenia (Mancini) Pacific, Sr. At the age of 3 he moved to Danbury with his family. He attended St. Peter's School and Danbury High School. He enlisted in the Marine's at age 19 serving in Korea. He was twice awarded the Purple Heart for the wounds he received at the Battle of Bunker Hill and at White Mountain Hill. While aboard a hospital ship, Mr. Pacific was interviewed for a segment on the Kate Smith show which aired on CBS.
He was an agent for Metropolitan Life Ins. Co. for 20 years then worked at the Stetson Co. and was the President of the Hatters Union until the factory closed its doors. Mr. Pacific then worked for Danbury Public Schools as a custodian until his health forced him to retire in 1992. Always active in sports, as a youngster he played baseball and basketball for the YMCC and the Roger's Park Boys Club moving onto playing softball and bowling as an adult. Mr. Pacific managed Bethel Little League teams for 10years. He was a diehard Yankees fan. He was a member of the Korean Veterans, the Purple Heart Association, Catholic War Vets, and the American Legion Post 60 in Danbury, He was a parishioner of the Church of St. Mary, Bethel.
In addition to his wife of 51 years, he is survived by 2 sons: Frank C. Pacific of Mamaroneck, NY and Louis H. Pacific, Jr. of Riviera Beach, FL; a brother: Michael Pacific and his wife, Ruth of Danbury and their children: Peter & Jan, Michael & Pearl, Eugene & Cheryl, Marylou& Kenneth, Edward, Louis, Raymond & Patricia, Joseph & Debra, Victoria & Leon, Cindy Lou & George, Andrew, Jennie & Anthony, Rose & Steve and Tina; a sister-in-law: Elsie Pacific of Danbury and her family; sister-in-law Beatrice Rasmussen and her husband David of Palm Coast ,FL and their son Alan and his children David & Mandy; his special extended family: sister-in-law Joann Lawlor who was like a daughter to him and her children: Richard & Christine, Ronald, Randall & Lisa, Michaela, Griffin & little Ricky. He was predeceased by brothers: Henry, Dominick and Peter Pacific, Jr. Funeral Information
The funeral will be conducted on Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at 9:30 from the Cornell Memorial Home 247 White St., Danbury to the Church of St. Mary, Bethel for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00. Entombment in St. Peter's Mausoleum will follow. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 29, 2005 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Cornell Memorial Home. Donations Information
