Obituary of Ursula M. Otto

Ursula M. Otto December 08, 1906 - December 11, 2009 Ursula M. (Kane) Otto, age 103 of Brookfield passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 11, 2009. She was the wife of the late Fred Otto, Jr. She was born in Danbury on December 8, 1906, daughter of the late Malachi and Helen (Smith) Kane. She was raised in Danbury and moved to Brookfield in 1962. She was a 1924 graduate of the Danbury Normal School, now known as Western Connecticut University. Mrs. Otto taught elementary school in Norwalk; after her marriage to Fred she became a homemaker. A civic minded citizen, during WW II she served as an Air Raid spotter in Danbury. She enjoyed baking and sewing. Ursula always was there to make clothes or fix clothes especially for her grandchildren. She would also bake from scratch all of the deserts for the holidays. Mrs. Otto was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Brookfield. Her faith in God has played a big part in her many years of life Ursula is survived by a daughter, Annellen Gleissner and her husband, William; two sons: Frederick (Ricky) Otto and his wife, Ann; and John (Jack) Otto and his wife Carolyn. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Hans Otto and his wife, Pina; Katrina Otto, Heidi Gleissner, Eric Otto and his wife, Laurie; Brian Gleissner and his wife JoAnne Bednarz; Lars Otto and his wife, Jennifer; Sondra Cherney, Kym Pederson and Karl Otto; and Ursula Parry and her husband, Tim; and by 7 great grandchildren: Colton and Corey Cherney; Kyle Otto; Travis Pedersen; and Brooke, Reese, and Brynn Otto. Funeral Information The funeral will be conducted on Monday, December 14, 2009 from the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield at 10:15AM to St. Joseph Church in Brookfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home on Monday from 9:15 to 10:15. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Ursula's name be made to St. Joseph Church, 163 Whisconier Rd., Brookfield, CT 06804.
