Obituary of Rose M. Oliva

Rose M. Oliva February 11, 1925 - August 16, 2006 Rose M. (DiBella) Oliva, 81, passed away in her home on August 16, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with a serious heart condition. The daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Dalessio) DiBella, Rose was born February 11, 1925 and was a lifelong resident of Danbury. She attended St. Peter's School and graduated from Danbury High School. In her high school days, Rose enjoyed and excelled at roller-skating. She often competed in and won skating competitions with her own skating group, The Rhythm Rollers. After High School, Rose went on to office administration positions at Sikorsky Aircraft, General Electric, and the Danbury Hat Factory. After her marriage to Victor Oliva in 1950, Rose became an excellent homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and sewing. She often made her own clothing and was a member of a sewing club. Her other interests included reading, dancing, and traveling. She traveled extensively in the United States and Canada, as well as to Rome and Paris. Rose was a member of St. Josephs Church and a member of the St. Joseph's Guild, where she held the position of Correspondence Secretary. She was also involved in many charity and fundraising campaigns for the church. Rose's friendly personality enabled her to make many friends in the community and she was well-liked by all whom she encountered. Rose is survived by her husband Victor Oliva, two daughters; Lori Oliva of Danbury, and Susan Oliva Brown and her husband James of East Hampton, Ct., two grandchildren Scott and Krista several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, John and Anthony BiBella. Funeral Information Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Church, Danbury, on Saturday, August 19, 2006, at 10:30am. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., between the hours of 8:30am and 10:00am. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery
