Obituary of Brian J. Murphy

Brian J. Murphy June 03, 1948 - February 12, 2006 Brian J. Murphy, 57, of Crestway, New Fairfield, devoted husband of Ellen Marie (Raabe) Murphy, died in the presence of his loving family on Sunday, February 12th. He was born in the Bronx, NY. On June 3, 1948, son of the late John F. and Dorothy Murphy. He was a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School and later received his degree in Engineering. Brian was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the United States Army Corp of Engineers. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Pitney Bowes in Danbury for nineteen years. He also worked as a real estate agent for American Realty in New Fairfield. He was a freelance home designer. Brian enjoyed sports car racing, traveling, and loved boating and fishing with his friends on Candlewood Lake. He was a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield. In addition to his wife of 10 years, Ellen, he is survived by his two daughters, Kelly Listenberger and her husband, Ronald of Naples, FL. and Patricia Alexander and her husband, Chad of Kahlua, Hawaii; his two grandchildren, Kevin Listenberger and Aislinn Alexander. He is also survived by his sisters, Janet Schork and her husband, Bill of Brookfield, Carol Murphy of New Fairfield, and Anna Cannizarro and her husband Joseph of Bethel; his nephews, Chris, Dennis, Matthew, Alexander, Connor, Maxwell and Sean; nieces, Kate, Morgan and Nicole; as well as many beloved family members. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, John Murphy; and his sister, Evelyn Dunlap. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18th at 10:00am at St. Edward the Confessor Church. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The Family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, February 17th between the hours of 2:00 - 4:00pm and 6:00 - 8:00pm. Donations Information Memorial Contributions may be made to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (http://www.fallenheroesfund.org) in lieu of flowers.
