Obituary of Mary R. Moffa

Mary R. Moffa February 28, 1938 - January 07, 2006 Mary R. Moffa, of Kendall Terrace, West, Danbury, devoted wife of 49 years of the late James Moffa, died at Danbury Hospital on Saturday, January 7th. She was born in Lisbon, Portugal on February 28, 1938. Mrs. Moffa received her undergraduate and Masters Degrees at Western Connecticut State University and then began her 36 year teaching career. She taught at both East Ridge and Scotts Ridge Middle Schools in Ridgefield. She also was curriculum editor for the Ridgefield Board of Education for a number of years. She was a mentor of other teachers and shared her love of teaching as well as her passion for excellence. She loved teaching and worked with many extra curricular student activitiy groups. Most of all she loved her 36 years of interaction with the students themselves. She will be sadly missed by her four children, James Moffa of Spring, Texas, Melinda Cacamis of Hamden, Michelle Trotter of Clearwater, Fl., and Michael Moffa of Danbury; her eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, David, Anthony, and James Moffa, Mark, Nick, Luke, and Alexandra Trotter. She is also survived by her two sisters, Lucy Moore, and Nandy Gesseck; her brother, Joseph Pereira; as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury, on Tuesday, January 10th at 10:00am. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury on Monday, January 9th between the hours of 6 and 9:00pm.
