Obituary of Rocco Benevento

Rocco Benevento April 30, 1921 - January 17, 2010 Rocco "Rocky" Benevento, of New Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Marie (Frascella) Benevento, died of Leukemia on Sunday, January 17th. He was born in Bronx, NY on April 30, 1921, son of the late Donato and Antonia (Molinari) Benevento. Mr. Benevento was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army in Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and a Bronze Star. He retired as Superintendent of Housing for the City of New York after 28 years of employment. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking and being outdoors. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing, cooking, and making homemade pasta. He was a Scout Master and Committee member of the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He will be sadly missed by his two sons, Daniel Benevento and his wife, Lois of Scarsdale, NY, and Lawrence Benevento and his wife, Vicki of Florida; his three grandchildren, Andrew Benevento, Kristen Cravotta, and Thomas Benevento. He is also survived by his sister, Angela Penasso of Bronx, NY; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 23rd at 9:30am at St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, January 22nd between the hours of 2:00 - 4:00pm and 6:00 - 8:00pm.
