Obituary of Emil G. Manka

Emil G. Manka Sr. December 30, 1941 - October 14, 2007 Emil George Manka, Sr., age 65, of Cedar Drive, Danbury, beloved husband of Joan Rita (Caraszi) Manka, died as the result of a motorcycle accident on Sunday, October 14th. He was born in Stamford on December 30, 1941, son of the late Emil and Julia (Palitz) Manka. He was a graduate of Stamford High School, Class of 1960. Mr. Manka was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the United States Air Force. He worked as warehouse manager for Mariano Brothers for 30 years. He was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brookfield, volunteered as an usher. He served on the Prince of Peace Cemetery Board and the Board of Cedar Heights Association. He was an avid Mets fan. Mr. Manka was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. In addition to his cherished wife of 44 years, Joan, he will be sadly missed by his son, Emil Manka, Jr and his wife, Lisa of Danbury; his two daughters, Sherry Morrissey and her husband, Kevin of Newtown, and Amy Manka of Danbury; his grandchildren, Katlyn, Amelinda, Emil III, Kevin, Kyle, Colin, Bryan, Brendan, and Lazzara. He is also survived by his sister, Judith Cotton and her husband, Charles of New Hampshire; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Mike Manka. Funeral Information Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 18th at 10:00am at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Brookfield. Burial in Prince of Peace Cemetery will follow. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Wednesday between the hours of 2-4 and 6-8pm.
