Obituary of Christian C. Major

Christian C. Major January 09, 1978 - June 13, 2009 Christian Charles Major, age 31, of Danbury, died on Saturday, June 13th, in Afghanistan. He was born in Danbury on January 9, 1978. He was the son of Maureen K. (Luff) Major Ullah and Abraham Ullah, and Charles and Maggie Major. Christian was a graduate of St. Mary School, Bethel, Class of 1992, Immaculate High School, Class of 1996, and Wooster Academy, Wooster Mass, Class of 1997. He attended the University of Maine at Orono. A Veteran, Christian, proudly served his country with the United States Navy and later continued with the United States Army. He was a recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, US Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, 3 Overseas Service Ribbon, Driver and Mechanic Badge, and a Parachutist Badge. Christian was currently working as a MATOC Project Manager for ASG in Afghanistan. Christian, fondly known as "Major", was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He also loved his New England Pats. A friend to many, one friend recently wrote in tribute of him "I instantly became a big fan of his when I saw him interacting with the local beggar kids on our first morning together. He had exceptional language skills, he was a very big and very fit guy, had an infectious smile, great sense of humor and like all the good guys in my line of work a tender heart." Christian was a very good man who helped many and lived a life based on his beliefs. In addition to his parents, Maureen Major Ullah and Abraham Ullah of Danbury, Charles and Maggie Major of St. Augustine, FL; he will be sadly missed by his beloved brother, Brendan J. Major of Westchester, NY; his uncle, Kevin Luff and his wife, Laura Isaia-Luff of Oceanside, NY; and his stepsister, Karina Minacapelli of Scottsdale, AZ. and numerous friends both locally and abroad. Funeral Information A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 24th at 10:00am at St. Mary Church in Bethel. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday between the hours of 3:00 and 8:00pm at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. Service times and dates will be confirmed in tomorrow's paper.
