James C. Leach, 83, of Moody Dr. Danbury, beloved husband of Rose Ellen (Prizio) Battistelli-Leach, died at Danbury Health Care Center on Monday, February 8th. He was born in Danbury on February 7, 1927, son of the late Chester Leach and Josephine (Haddy) Gardner. He was a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School.
Mr. Leach was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy. He worked as a machinist in Danbury for fifteen years and was a longtime employee of the City of Danbury, working in recycling, as well as Park and Recreation. He later worked for Danbury Hospital in the maintenance department. Upon retirement, he enjoyed being a School Crossing Guard for Broadview, South Street and St. Joseph Schools.
A longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Danbury, he enjoyed volunteering for the church as an usher. He was also a past member of the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge in Danbury.
In addition to his devoted wife of 26 years, Rose Ellen, he will be sadly missed by his daughter, Lysa Molnar of Danielson; his granddaughter, Angela Molnar; his four stepchildren, George, Michael, Brian and Charlene; his eleven step-grandchildren; and one step-great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Jane Barchi of Arizona; as well as several cousins, nieces and one nephew. Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 13th at 11:00am at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm.
