Obituary of Albert H. Bartram

Albert H. Bartram August 13, 1916 - July 07, 2006 Albert H. Bartram, 89, of Nashville Road, Bethel, devoted husband of Arlene (Mockovak) Bartram, passed away peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Thursday, July 6th. He was born in Danbury on August 13, 1916, eldest son of the late Arthur Howard and Helen (McIntyre) Bartram. He was a graduate of Bethel High School, Class of 1934. Mr. Bartram worked for Mallory's Hats and Lee hats as an expediter before leaving to work as a clerk at the Bethel Post Office retiring after 20 years of service. Boot as he was known to his nieces and nephews was an avid outdoorsman, fishing, hiking and collecting arrowheads. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable gardens. After retirement he returned to his labor of love, making children's furniture and clocks for his family and friends. Mr. Bartram was a World War II Veteran, proudly serving in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant in the 305th Infantry, 77th Division, Company I. He was in the Pacific Theater where he fought for the Liberation of the Philippines on Guam; Leyte; Kerama Retto, IE Shima and Okinawa where he was stationed when war correspondent Ernie Pyle was killed. He was awarded the bronze star, good conduct medal, American campaign medal, Asiatic Pacific campaign medal, WWII victory medal, liberation of the Philippines medal, and occupation of Japan medal along with four battle stars. He was a member of the American Legion Post 100 and the VFW, Post 935, both of Bethel. He was a lifetime member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. In addition to his beloved wife, Arlene, of 58 years, he is survived by his son, Paul, son David and his wife, Marilyn and his daughter, Sandra Bardelli and her husband Ken, all of Bethel; his sister, Ellen B. Minck and husband Edward of Danbury; granddaughter, Jessica Anne Bardelli, and grandson, Kenneth Bardelli, Jr., grandsons, Richard, James and Michael Storm and granddaughter Mary Kate Storm; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Alice B. Reynolds and his brother, LeRoy S. Bartram. The family would like to take this time to thank the Bethel VNA, his family doctor, Dr. Edward Volpintesta, his cardiologist, Dr. Robert Jarrett, and the doctors and nurses on the 11th floor of Danbury Hospital that made his passing a peaceful one. Funeral Information There will be no calling hours. Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family. The Cornell Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
