Obituary of Derek M. Kairney

Derek M. Kairney January 09, 1973 - June 20, 2009 Derek M. Kairney, age 36, of South Windsor, son of Christine (Guenzel) Kairney and Alexander J. Kairney, died at his home on Saturday, June 20th. He was born in Norwalk on January 9, 1973. He was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1991, and graduated from Technical School in MA. Derek worked as a self employed plumber as well as construction. He enjoyed skiing, kayaking, and traveling with his beloved daughter, Morgan. He also enjoyed playing football for DHS and in technical school. In recent years, Derek discovered a passion for cooking and took great pride in his kitchen. He loved to entertain and cook for his family and friends. In addition to his mother, Christine Kairney and her husband, John J. Holt of Danbury; and his father, Alexander J. Kairney and his wife, Mary of Chicago; he will be sadly missed by his daughter, Morgan Katelin Kairney; his maternal grandmother, Marcella Guenzel; his aunts, Deborah Lefebvre and her husband, John, and Barbara Guenzel; and his cousins, Eron, Timothy and Janine Lefebvre. Funeral Information Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Sunday, June 28th at 3:30pm. Cremation will take place at the direction of the family. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday between the hours of 1:00 and 3:30pm.
