Obituary of Claire M. Batchler

Brookfield – Claire Marie (Fonseca) Batchler, age 68, of Brookfield passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 17, 2023 at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of Brian J. Batchler.

Claire was born May 13, 1955 in Bronx, New York daughter of the late Edward and Eleanor (DeStefano) Fonseca. She was retired after working as a Nurse for many years and was a communicant of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Brookfield.

Claire enjoyed cheering on the NY Yankees. Her attentive ear, wise counsel, and witty sense of humor will be greatly missed by her friends and family.  Claire had  a great dedication to Birthright for over 30 years.

In addition to her husband Brian, Claire is survived by her daughters: Kathleen Hwang and her husband Michael of Glastonbury and Beth Debaz and her husband Phil of Montville, NJ, her siblings: Catherine Marshall and her husband Robert of Manassas, VA, Martin Fonseca and his wife Deirdre of Greenwich, Richard Fonseca and his wife Georgann of Southbury, Christopher Fonseca and his wife Luisa of Stamford, Edward Fonseca and his wife Patty Vigliotti of Bristol and Lenore Yastremski and her husband Robert of Danbury, 5 grandchildren, Rei, Malachi, Lucy, Mary and James, and many nieces and nephews.

Claire’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday October 22, 2023 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home 247 White Street Danbury.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday October 23, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Brookfield. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury.
