Obituary of Ellen Arcuri

Ellen Arcuri, 67, of Plantsville, beloved wife of Joseph Cicero, died peacefully at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, on Friday, October 6, 2023, surrounded by her children.  She was born in Bronxville, New York on August 10, 1956, daughter of the late Raynold and Mary Patricia (Overberger) Arcuri.

Ellen studied at local schools before meeting Joseph, and they wed at The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Tuckahoe, New York, on May 12, 1979. Together, they raised a family of four children (and two cats) in multiple Westchester locations. Later in life, Ellen went back to college and graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting with high honors from Mercy College. She worked in accounting for several years at various companies and retired from Hartford Healthcare. Ellen moved to Bethel, Connecticut and spent sixteen years there in a town she loved.

Those that know Ellen know she was as strong a person as they come. While she was slowed physically by a variety of ailments throughout her life, her sharp wit, sense of humor and most importantly, her strength, enabled her to enjoy her family; bike riding, tennis and other exercise; good food and sitting in the sun, among many other things. As a longtime suffering Mets fan, she needed that sense of humor on many occasions. Never one to complain, Ellen somehow maintained her empathy and compassion for others, while never asking "why me?". Her intelligence and keen memory were always on display, perhaps never more so when navigating her legendary filing systems. It is impossible to distill such a wonderful person and life down to a few words; however, kindness, strength, empathy and humor all immediately come to mind when thinking of Ellen. She will be terribly missed by all who know her.

In addition to her cherished husband, Joseph, she will be greatly missed by her four children, Ryan Cicero (Maria), Brenna Cicero, Mary-Cate Cicero (Will Hocker) and Meghan Dibble (Tim); and her six grandchildren, William, Eli, and Taron Cicero, Ellis Hocker, Adrianna Albini and Blake Dibble.  She is also survived by her brothers, Raynold Arcuri, Jr. (Carolyn), John Arcuri (Nancy) and Paul Arcuri; her sister, Suzanne Larkin (Brian); and her many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 14th at 10:00am at St. Mary Church in Bethel, CT.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, CT on Friday, October 13th between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00pm.
