Bryant William Irwin, age 60, died at home in Colorado Springs, Colo. on April 3, 2011.
He was born on August 25, 1950, a son of the late William Fletcher and Martha (Saunders) Irwin.
A lifelong area resident until a recent relocation to Colorado Springs, he was raised in Bethel. He was a member of the 1968 graduating class of Henry Abbott Technical School.
After graduation, he entered military service with the U.S. Army, serving his country in Germany and Viet Nam as a heavy vehicle driver. Upon discharge from the military, he worked in the interstate freight industry as a driver at J&S Trucking and Hawk of Connecticut in Danbury, finishing his career with Western Freightways in Denver, Colo.
After 42 years as a professional truck driver, he retired in July, 2010. He was an active member of VFW Post 935 in Bethel, serving as a past Grand Marshal. He enjoyed auto racing, family history, military history, travel, and was passionate about his pet rabbit and wildlife.
He is survived by his wife Lora Premo of Colorado Springs, Colo., 3 sons, 2 daughters, 3 grandchildren, 3 nieces, 2 nephews, 2 step-sons, a brother, Ralph S. Irwin of New Milford, and a sister, Loraine M. Apap and her husband Charles of Danbury. Funeral Information
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 12th at 7:00pm at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family at Raymond Hill Cemetery, Carmel, New York.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00pm.
