Obituary of Annual Holiday Gift Drive
Annual Holiday Gift Drive
December 06, 2010
Dear Friends,
Having lost my own mother five years ago, I know how difficult this time of year can be. Even though so much time has passed, the desire to purchase a gift for my mom is still very strong. Many books and articles written on grief suggest that families who have lost a loved one find new traditions for the holidays to help fill the void left by the loss. With this in mind, I invite you to join the Cornell Memorial and Brookfield Funeral Homes in the 2nd Annual Holiday Gift Drive. With the recent economic difficulties, there are many local families who are struggling. Donation of a gift can be made in the memory of your loved one and greatly benefit our neighbors in need.
Thanks to the many donations made last year, we were able to help five families, including a family of five, a single mother with an eight year old daughter, a single mother with four children, a teen mother with a one year old son, a single mother with two children, and a family of three.
We have several families from the Danbury area who we are hoping to help this Christmas. Gift Cards, in any monetary amount to the following establishments would be appreciated:
Walmart, Toys R Us, AMC Lowes Theater, Target, Gas Stations, CVS
Walgreens, Game Stop, Any Grocery Store, Danbury Mall, Borders
Please mail or drop off your donations to the Cornell Memorial Home on or before December 17th.
I hope that your holiday season is filled with healing and peace.
Sincerely,
Tania L. (Bourdeau) Porta
