Luba Gervasio
May 02, 1921 - March 15, 2011
Luba "Luvy" Gervasio, age 89, of Danbury died on March 15, 2011. She was the wife of the late William Gervasio.
She was born on May 2, 1921 in Claverack, NY, a daughter of the late John and Amelia (Wasylenko) Duda. Mrs. Gervasio lived in Yonkers, NY for many years, before moving her family to Danbury in 1970. She was employed by Grolier Corp. as a machine operator. She was a member of AARP, the senior club of St. Gregory the Great Church, and served as a moderator in the election polls. She excelled in knitting, sewing, crocheting and needlepoint and often contributed handmade sweaters, caps, blankets and Christmas ornaments to the St. Gregory the Great Holiday Craft Fair. She also donated lap blankets to the nursing homes in Danbury. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was most happy when taking care of her family.
Her family would like to express profound gratitude to Lorna Gayle, her wonderful caregiver of five years. Lorna's strength, courage, love and deep spiritual belief in God helped our mother weather the storm of Alzheimer's and we thank her from the bottom of our hearts.
Mrs. Gervasio is survived by her two sons: William Gervasio, Jr. and his wife, Eleanor of Ormond Beach, Fl; John Gervasio and his wife, Sally of Wallingford, CT; a daughter: Carolyn Reifers and her husband, Mark of Wilton, CT; 2 sisters: Helen Markessinnis of Pittsfield, MA, Viennie (Vera) Brown of Boiling Springs, SC; 6 grandchildren: David, Emily, Joseph, James, Steven and Melissa; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
