Obituary of Peggy Ferriere
Peggy Ferriere
April 13, 1915 - April 04, 2010
Peggy Ferriere, 9 days shy of her 95th birthday, was surrounded by family when Jesus wrapped His arms around her and brought her to heaven to celebrate with those in her family that have gone there before her. If you heard a lot of noise at 11:00am on Easter Sunday, April 4th, that was the rejoicing and dancing in the streets of gold in heaven.
She was born Mary Elizabeth Dolan in NYC, NY, raised in Larchmont, NY, a graduate from the Dominican Academy in NYC. She was predeceased by her mother, Eleanor (Madden) Dolan; her father, Benedict Dolan; her husband James Ferriere; and her two sons, Michael Ferriere and Richard Waterman.
At 40, she embarked on a country music singing career, and at the age of 58 began motivational speaking and singing Gospel music, when she encountered a personal relationship with Jesus. She has been on TV and radio, and worked with Chuck Colson's Prison Fellowship with her band Jedidiah. She was known locally as "The Singing Grandmother."
She moved to CT in 1969 and made New Fairfield her home. She loved her dogs and her family. At the age of 90, she discovered a new passion and talent for art and kept busy drawing.
Peggy leaves behind her son, John T. Nichols of White Plains, NY; her daughters, Claire Cottet of West Park, NY, Mikki McClullan of Colebrook, Jeannelouise Giuliano of New Fairfield; and her daughter Denise Leighton and her husband, Derbin, with whom she made her home until she moved to Hancock Hall in Danbury. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses, aides and staff of the 2nd floor who loved and treated her like family for the past year and a half. Funeral Information
