Charles W. Smalley, age 95 of Brookfield, beloved husband of 74 years to Genevieve ( Harrison ) Smalley died April 2, 2010 at New Milford Hospital. He was the son of the late Charles and Laura (Enzian) Smalley. Charles was born on September 27, 1914 in the Town of Southeast, New York.
He worked as a mechanic for the Connecticut State Police for many years, enjoying bowling, golf, and hunting. After retiring he became a gentleman farmer, raising cows and working on his tractors. He was a generous and loving man who will be missed by his family.
In addition to his wife of 74 years he is survived by his children: Barbara Schoen and her husband George of Titusville, Fl, Charlotte Piskura and her husband Albert of Washington, Ct, C. William "Bill" Smalley and his wife P.J. of Warren, Ct., sisters Jenny Dalton of Towners, NY and Ruth E Brown of Southbury, Ct., seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers Louis, George and Asbury, two sisters Helen and Ethel. Funeral Information
The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd in Brookfield, Ct on Tuesday April 6, 2010 between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00pm.
Funeral Services will be held at The Brookfield Congregational Church (crossing of Rt 25 and 133) in Brookfield Ct on Wednesday April 7, 2010 at 10AM. Burial is at the convenience of the family. Donations Information
