Obituary of Raymond A. Miller

Raymond A. Miller Jr. June 01, 1922 - March 31, 2011 Raymond A. Miller, Jr., 88, of Bethel, beloved husband of 50 years to the late Mildred (Laughlin) Miller, died at the Gardens in Danbury, on Thursday, March 31st. He was born in Danbury on June 1, 1922, son of the late Raymond and Edna Miller. Mr. Miller was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army. He received the Bronze Star Medal for heroism. Prior to his retirement Raymond was a house mover for 18 years, and a tractor trailer driver for Marcus Dairy. He spent 11 years of his as a warehouseman and carpenter at Mariano Brothers in Danbury. Raymond took great pride in his carpentry skills, from home construction wishing wells to garden whirly gigs. In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with family, along with his side kick, Britton Spaniel. He loved walking the fields and streams of his childhood. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his sisters, Myrtle, Evelyn and Ruth; as well as his stepson, Ernest Tillford. He will be sadly missed by his son, Raymond A. Miller, III and his wife, Wendy of New Fairfield; his five grandchildren, Tammy, Pamela, Susan, Walter and Darryl; his brother, Richard Miller and his wife, Jackie of Brookfield; his sister, Jean Kienle of Clinton; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday, April 4th between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm. Funeral Services and burial in Wooster Cemetery will be held privately.
