Obituary of Elizabeth McGran

Elizabeth McGran July 08, 1926 - April 11, 2011 Elizabeth "Betty Ann" (Geary) McGran, 84, died on April 11th at Hancock Hall in Danbury. Betty Ann was born July 8, 1926 in Danbury to Joseph and Rose (Thomas) Geary. Betty Ann graduated from Danbury State Teachers College where she played basketball. She was a school teacher at Millridge School for 39 years. She also served on the church council and taught religious education at St. Anthony's Maronite Rite Church. Betty Ann holds the women's double world record for a 3 game set in duck pin bowling and was award winning in many women's professional duck pin tour events. She was an avid golfer and past women's club champion at Vails Grove Course in Brewster and also volunteered for hospice. Betty Ann is survived by 2 sons, Major Donald J. McGran of the Ridgefield Police Department and his wife Holly of Danbury and Christopher G. McGran and his wife Christine also of Danbury; 4 grandchildren, Kacie, Jake, Kyle and Samantha McGran. She is also survived by her oldest and dearest friend, Louise Klecha. She is predeceased by her best friends Phyllis Garavel, Dot Hull and Roberta Tahan. Funeral Information The family will receive friends at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St. Danbury CT. on April 13th at 4 - 7 P.M. with a prayer service to be held at 7 P.M. on the same day. A cremation will follow at the family's convenience.
