Obituary of William Hasselberger

Danbury – William Hasselberger, age 86, of Danbury passed away peacefully on Friday May 19, 2023 in Danbury. He was born on February 4, 1937 in New York, NY to John Hasselberger, Jr. and Alice (Montgomery) Hasselberger.  He was a 1955 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, NY and soon after enlisted in the United States Navy.   He was stationed out of San Diego, Hawaii and Oakland, CA and served aboard the USS Essex and the USS Vega. Upon his honorable discharge from the United States Navy on August 1, 1963,  he was employed by Kraft General Foods Corporation in Tarrytown NY as a Laboratory Technician in the Food Research Division.  In addition he was later employed and retired from Nestle Corporation in New Milford, CT, 

He married his sweetheart Beverly Ann (Kelley) Hasselberger on April 25, 1964. They were married for 59 years.  He is survived by his son John Hasselberger and his wife Julie of Sandy Hook, his half sister: Phylis Hasselberger-Mattice and her husband Robert of Carbondale, CO.,  his grandchildren: Ryan, Sarah, Alex, Daniel, Emily and Thomas, and his great granddaughter: Amelia.

 William was predeceased by his son Robert Hasselberger on February 16, 2020. He was also predeceased by his brother John Hasselberger III on January 29, 2009.

He was a loving and devoted family man.  He enjoyed spending his time going on cruises, country and western dancing, cooking Holiday meals, and outside home projects.  He was a larger than life personality and notoriously funny story teller. 

William Hasselbergers family will receive relatives and friends on Monday June 5, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home 247 White Street Danbury. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday June 5, 2023 at 12 p.m. Burial with full Navy honors will be in St. Peters Cemetery in Danbury.
