Obituary of Terry Kay Thompson

Terry Thompson of Danbury, CT. passed away peacefully at Danbury Hospital on March 28, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. Terry was born May 21, 1954, the daughter of Jack and Lorna Thompson. She attended Danbury schools and worked at various local restaurants and clubs, and most recently for Visiting Angels. She lived most of her life in Danbury except for a period of ten years in Las Vegas, Nevada.

With her quick wit and fun-loving nature, Terry was always the life of the party. She was a force of nature, whether kidnapping a wooden Indian, stunt driving in restaurant parking lots or creating Danbury’s first drive-in restaurant, she lived life with no boundaries. She was a proud American, devoted to family, friends and veterans whose service she deeply honored.

She was the fun aunt to all her nieces and nephews who she treasured. A life-long animal lover, her best times were spent with her fur babies, who she spoiled unabashedly. Dogs, cats and birds, she loved them all.  She was the loyal friend who could be depended upon to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her sense of humor was legendary and never dulled during her difficult journey.  To know her was to love her. The heavens are a little brighter since Terry arrived on the scene.

She is survived by Diane Manzi (Daniel), Linda Pickwick (Michael), Kathy Thompson; her sister-in-law, Gina Thompson; nieces and nephews, Colleen McIlwain (Kevin), Sean Pickwick (Nicole Sciortino,) Taryn Pickwick, Ky and Ruby Baker,  Kelly Thompson, Ryan Casolino,  Kara Jasinski,  Weston Schneider and Kayla and Tanner Cook.

Terry was predeceased by brothers Robert and Gary Thompson, sister-in-law, Sandra Thompson, nephews Daniel R. Manzi and Peter Casolino and niece, Finndelvh Baker.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 11th at 5:45pm at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday between 4:00 – 6:00pm.

The family would like to thank Dr. Eric Ma and the incredible team at the Praxair Cancer Center, the nursing staff of the 11th floor Oncology Unit working together with Regional Hospice for their care, compassion and dedication to make Terry’s final journey dignified and peaceful.
