Obituary of Karen Lynn Higgins

New Milford – Mrs. Karen Lynn (Olson) Higgins, age 81, of New Milford, passed away peacefully on Sunday March 19, 2023 at Danbury Hospital. She was the loving wife, for 59 years, of Richard “Dick” Keyes Higgins.

Mrs. Higgins was born February 24, 1942 in Chicago, IL to the late John H. and Ruth Ann (Rowley) Olson. She retired after working for many years as a medical receptionist and scheduler and was also a member of the Brookfield Congregational Church. She enjoyed traveling to the Amish Country and Florida (especially to Disney World and Sea World), crafting and attending craft and quilting shows, shopping, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband “Dick”, Mrs. Higgins is survived by her sons: Gregory Scott Higgins of Seattle, WA and Glen Michael Higgins and his wife Coressa of Brookfield; her brother Gregg Olson and his wife Barbara of Jupiter, Florida; her grandchildren Taylor Kristine Higgins, Sydney Michelle Higgins and Ryan Keyes Higgins; and her nieces Kristen, Ericka and Karen.  Mrs. Higgins is also predeceased by her son Timothy Keyes Higgins.

The Higgins family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday March 23, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Brookfield Funeral Home 786 Federal Road Brookfield. A Prayer Service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, New York on Friday March 24, 2023 at 11 a.m.
