Obituary of William Francis Waters
William F. Waters, 81, formerly of Danbury, husband of the late Judith (Desmarais) Waters, died peacefully on Saturday, February 4th at Newtown Rehab. He was born in Danbury on May 14, 1941, son of the late Morris and Laura (Pane) Waters. He was a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School, Danbury.
William was a Veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving in Germany operating heavy equipment to support the troops in Vietnam.
He owned and operated William F. Waters Construction Company for many years.
Bill will be remembered most for his love of dirt track car racing in the tri-state area and his impeccable skill operating heavy equipment which he acquired while serving proudly in the US Army. Above all, he was a devoted husband and father with whom he shared his love of animals and nature. Bill would often be found tinkering away on small equipment or under a car repairing it. His humor and smile would make any stranger a friend. Bill enjoyed the simple things and loved to start his day by the waterfall with his coffee before heading off to work.
He will be sadly missed by his three children, Dawn Poulin (Greg), William F. Waters, Jr. (Seo Jin), Michele DeCarmine (Dennis); and five grandchildren, Enrique (Valerie), Vicente and Augusto Poulin, Dominic and Damian DeCarmine. He is also survived by his loving niece, Joan (Polhamus) Ogden and her two children, Ryan and Niki.
The family would like to thank all of the healthcare workers at Newtown Rehabilitation and Health Care Center for caring for our father.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday, February 13th between the hours of 5:00 – 6:30pm. A Funeral Service will be held at 6:30pm.
Burial in Middletown Veteran Cemetery, with full military honors will be on Tuesday, February 14th at 12:00pm. Please join us in celebrating Bill’s life as we remember the impact he made on those who knew and loved him.
