Obituary of Barbara Doris Esposito
Barbara D. (Pooler) Esposito, 89, of Danbury, beloved wife of the late Donald F. Esposito, Sr., died peacefully at Glen Hill Center on Sunday, September 4, 2022. She was born in Danbury on December 8, 1932, daughter of the late Aldaine Pooler and Helen (McGrath) Pooler. She was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1950, and St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1953.
Barbara worked for 20 years as a private duty nurse. She retired as head nurse for Fairfield Hills in 1994.
On October 2, 1954, Barbara married her grade school love, Donald. Together they created a beautiful life and raised 8 children. They “stayed the course,” and were married for 42 years.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, her happiest moments were spent with her family. She was always available and loved caring for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and will be remembered for her love of practical jokes, especially on April Fool’s Day.
She will be sadly missed by her 8 children and their spouses, Donna and Laurence Ancker, Brenda and William Bourgeois, Donald F. Jr. and Dawn Esposito, Dean and Sharon Esposito, Cindy and Jim Meenagh, Linda and Joseph J. LoStocco, Laura and Michael Rizzo Sr., and Nancy and Ron Durkin and her fourteen grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Skip Pooler and his wife, Sandra; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 9th at 10:30am at St. Peter Church, Danbury.
In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, there will be no calling hours, and interment in St. Peter Cemetery will be private.

When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do, you mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears. Be thankful for our beautiful years. I gave to you my love. You can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it’s time I traveled on alone. So grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust, it’s only for a time that we must part, so bless the memories within your heart. I won’t be far away, for life goes on, though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near. All my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile, and say “Welcome Home.” |
