Obituary of Darlene Michelle Benson

Please share a memory of Darlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Darlene Michelle (Miele) Benson, 50, formerly of Brookfield,  passed away on Thursday, May 12th, after a courageous fight with ovarian cancer. She was born on December 10, 1971, to Linda Marie (Miele) Gori.

Darlene worked for over 30 years as a Medical Assistant at Danbury Hospital NICU, Candlewood Center for Women’s Health, and Brookfield Family Medicine.

To know Darlene was to love her. She selflessly devoted herself to caring for anyone who needed her. She wouldn’t hesitate to drop anything for a friend or family member in need. She was a lover of life, sunflowers, the beach, and crafting. Darlene was fiercely loyal to those she loved, and her greatest passions were her children.

She is survived by her children, Bryanna and Bryce Benson, her partner Dan Rotatori and his daughter, Olivia Rotatori, all of Naugatuck; her mother Linda Gori of Dunedin, FL; cousins Michael Minardi, his wife Allison and their son Jacob, of Bradenton, FL, and Chrissy Rode, her husband Christopher and their daughters Avery and Madelyn, of St. Peter’s, MO; her close-knit Brewster family; her recently reunited siblings, The Capalbi’s, and a very large and loving extended family with whom she was very close.

Services will take place, this Saturday, May 14, 2022. They will be limited to calling hours of 1pm - 5pm, at The Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, CT. At the family’s request, please wear color in the spirit of Darlene’s vibrant personality and in celebration of her life.
