Obituary of Bruce C. MacIntyre

Bruce Christian MacIntyre, 74, husband of Lois Jean (Milark) MacIntyre, died Friday, November 12, 2021, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Born January 28, 1947, in Danbury, he was a son of the late Wilbur Alexander and Mildred Lorraine Gavin MacIntyre.

He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War having served two tours and he continued his service in the Connecticut Army National Guard. He retired as a Sergeant Major with over 32 years of service. He was very active and a lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans. He retired from the United States postal Service after working there for over 30 years.

Bruce and his wife enjoyed singing hymns and praying with the residents of Lake Marion Nursing Home every Sunday after church prior to COVID."He was a member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church and a past member of St. James Episcopal Church in Danbury. Bruce enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing and donated to multiple charities including sponsoring a child from Honduras.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years of Manning; three children, Bruce Christian MacIntyre, Jr. (Melissa) of New Milford, CT, Mon Alexander MacIntyre (Jennifer Pass-MacIntyre) of Niskayuna, NY and Sasha Antoinette MacIntyre Barata (Joseph) of New Fairfield, CT; three stepchildren, Peter James Schwaller (Donna Lisker) of Tiverton, RI, Steven Mathew Schwaller of Katy, TX and Kathlyn Denise Schwaller Smith of Aurora, CO; twelve grandchildren, Kristopher MacIntyre, Abagail MacIntyre, Krystal MacIntyre, Madeline Pass-MacIntyre, Cynthia Barata MacGregor (Mark), Emily Barata, Samantha Schwaller, Veronica Schwaller, Eric Schwaller, Zane Schwaller, Chloe Smith and Tyler Smith; two brothers, James MacIntyre (Sonia) of Naugatuck, CT and Paul Blanchard (Cathy) of New Milford, CT; four sisters, Susan Villa of Washington, VT, Deborah MacIntyre of Brookfield, CT, Sandra MacIntyre of Bethel, CT and Jean Letizia (Joseph) of Brookfield, CT; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held in South Carolina on Saturday, November 20th at 11:00am at New Covenant Presbyterian Church. 

A second service will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Saturday, November 27th at 3pm. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home between the hours of 1:00 – 3:00pm.
