Obituary of Beatrice Helen Prunty

Beatrice (Mooney) Prunty, 88 of Danbury, beloved wife of William P. Prunty, entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 7th.  She was born in Bronx, New York on September 4, 1932, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Mulvey) Mooney.  As a child of Irish immigrants, she was fiercely proud of her Scot-Irish roots.

She was a graduate of Pratt University with a business degree.  She went on to attain a Masters in Education and a Masters in Fine Arts from Western Connecticut State University.

Bea was a talented artist, working across multiple mediums, but especially enjoyed oil painting.  She enjoyed shopping and bargain hunting and often found the perfect quirky gift for those she loved.

Bea was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who put her family above all else. Her life was built on a foundation of faith in God, which carried her through every triumph and tribulation with a grace that was admired by all.

Bea will be remembered for her great sense of humor and sarcasm.  Her ability to see humor and make others laugh was strong until the very end.

In addition to her husband of 62 years, Bill, she will be missed by her seven cherished children, Peter, MaryBeth, Timothy, James, Ellen and her husband, Robert Goyda, Robert and Thomas Prunty; her ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  She also enjoyed many dear friendships from the AA community and considered many of them like family.

She was predeceased by her grandson, Fintan James.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 11th at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, Danbury.  Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at a walk-through wake on Monday, May 10th between the hours of 4:00 – 7:00pm at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury.  All attendees must be masked and observe social distancing practices.
