Obituary of Paul Michael Fagan

                                                                                                                                                 Paul M. Fagan

The much loved Paul Michael Fagan, of Danbury and Newtown, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2020. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Pamela M. Fagan.

He was born January 12, 1939 in Norwalk, son of the late Kenneth Fagan and Gretchen (Coenen) Fagan. He grew up in a loving family in Norwalk and had three siblings. He is survived by his brother Thomas Fagan of Georgetown, Washington DC. Paul was predeceased in life by his brother, Patrick Fagan and his sister, Elizabeth (Fagan) Cherrier. In 1960, Paul married his wife Pam and they moved to Danbury. They lived there in the home they built for over 50 years. There they raised their three sons, Paul Jr., Timothy and Jonathan. Paul was a self-made entrepreneur who owned and operated Surveying Associates for over 50 years. He was a very intelligent, skilled surveyor and a charismatic, thoughtful leader. He was well-respected in the business community for his high ethics and invested interest in his clients and employees, many of whom remained loyal to Paul until the sale of the business in 2019. Paul was compassionate, loyal, generous and dedicated to his family, friends, employees and clients. He devoted his life to providing for his family and running his surveying business. Paul was a man rich with enthusiasm and had a zest for life. No matter how difficult the situation, he always managed to cure things with his infectious sense of humor. Paul viewed laughter as a panacea, and prescribed it liberally to himself and others. Paul loved sports and physical activity. He was an avid golfer, skier and platform tennis player. You knew it was Spring when Paul happily rose with the birds on Saturday morning to join his buddies at Candlewood Valley to play a round of golf. A patient man, Paul taught his sons the skills needed to participate in his cold-weather passions, skiing and platform tennis. He enjoyed going to the family vacation home in the Berkshires for gatherings and skiing. There we all had the pleasure of waking up to the smell of Dad cooking breakfast. It consisted of fresh sausage from Avery’s, with pancakes and coffee. A perennial favorite, especially after a night of skiing. Mom and Dad hosted many gatherings, holidays and birthday celebrations at both their homes which has created lasting memories for all his family. Paul was also a very serious and devoted Patriots fan. When a game was over, you could expect a call from Dad, no matter the time, to discuss the details.

He will be sadly missed but never forgotten, by his three sons and their families. Paul Fagan, Jr., and his wife, Tracy and their sons Casey and Matthew. Timothy Fagan and his wife, Stephanie, and their daughter Lily. Jonathan Fagan and his sons Jackson, Michael and Noah. We hold many loving memories of him close to our hearts forever and will truly miss his sparkling blue eyes, infectious smile, quick-wit and optimism.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Paul will be honored with a private Catholic family burial. A celebration of his and Pam’s life will be held at a date and time to be announced to family and friends.

Memorial Contributions in Paul’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, www.alz.org. Let’s help accelerate research, so we can live in a world without Alzheimer’s and all other forms of dementia.
